The Community Wellness Walk is a casual opportunity to enjoy beautiful downtown Snohomish and the Centennial Trail, while conversing with new acquaintances and improving your overall wellness. Each walk will include an invitation to engage thoughtfully and intentionally with some aspect of the experience, whether that’s a conversation provoking question, a mindfulness practice, or other activity prompt.

Why a community walk?

As a group of people who feel passionately about community, the Kindling team wanted to offer something for the folks who make it up. We decided a walk would be a great way to foster relationships across the community, support wellness beyond the work we do with individuals, and - honestly - we thought it would be fun! Here are a few more reasons:

  • Even simple forms of movement and regular walks (~30 minutes a day) release beneficial neurotransmitters in the brain, stimulates our ability to process emotions, and supports better mental (and physical) health outcomes

  • Connecting in-person with others, even strangers, can reduce senses of loneliness and anxiety, open us up to new ideas and perspectives, boost confidence, and generally support a more resilient and flexible mental state

  • Time spent outdoors with the natural, growing world (and away from screens) can support stress reduction, improved mood, a more regulated nervous system, better concentration and problem solving abilities, and a greater sense of well-being

  • In a moment where so many voices are telling us we’re divide and disconnected from one another, we can take actions that - in their own small ways - move us toward a more harmonious tomorrow and show we’re all in this together
